Memorial Academy of Learning and Technology (MALT) provides all students educational experiences and opportunities to acquire knowledge and decision-making skills through the intergration of Technology, Visual and Performing Arts, Athletics, and Language Development skills in the core curriculum.

MALT believes that one of the most consistently proven methods used to improve academic achievement of students in schools such as Memorial is through increasing direct parent involvement. It merits to be stated that the parent involvement promoted here goes beyond increased parent presence on campus. Parent involvement at Memorial should develop a sense of ownership over the school among parents, as well as nuture a sense of partnership with Memorial faculty and staff over the academic progress of the school. The vested interest parents have in the future of the school is motivated by the success and future of their children.

MALT also ensures that the rich culture of the student population is recognized, celebrated, and enhanced. Each learner is nurtured and inspired to reach high expectations in a climate that is personalized, caring, and respectful. Students are responsible for themselves as learners and decision makers achieving their personal best.

Best in Academics

Research has proven that educational technology improves attandance, boosts tests scores and engages students in the learning process. Memorial is committed to providing the tools necessary for success in the 21st Century. Therefore, every incoming 6th grade students will receive his or her own laptop. Every 7th and 8th grade classroom will have at least 6 computers and access to onsite labs including Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI), a research laboratory, and a multimedia lab. All students will have access to six mobile laptop computer carts allowing technology to be used across the curriculum and ensuring the most current teaching methodologies and academic rigor. The core curriculum will include students activities such as podcasting, blogging, web design, photography, music, visual arts, Internet searches, streaming, multimedia, and national/international conferencing.

For an Enriching Experience

MALT balances fundamental learning with a curriculum that includes Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), Technology, Athletics, 6th Grade Camp, and Intramural Sports competitions. While some schools are cutting programs due to budget and other constaints, MALT is continuously adding VAPA courses, Technology programs and Athletics that include seasonal, team, and individual sports.

MALT offers: Associated Student Body (ASB), Music Classes (Band/Guitar), Art Classes, 6th Grade Camp, before and after school tutoring, Ballet Folklorico, Hip-Hop Dance Classes, Weight Lifting, Student Newspaper, MECHA Raza Club, Karate Classes, Colorguard/Winterguard, 6 to 6 Extended Day, Program Year Book Club.
